Brazil Nuts!!!

thanksWe recently headed out West to visit St Paul’s School in Sao Paulo. We had already visited the school in 2005 and 2007, so it was great to meet up with old friends.

We saw prep and pre-prep students throughout the week. We performed our iHero and Action Dogs show and led some writing and drama workshops.

We also watched Miss Smith’s class perform their assembly, which was based on our Mind the Door book – it was brilliant!

The students had the opportunity to buy our books. Merche Clarke from Jamer books in Rio, brought down 100 copies of our titles. They sold them all in 10 minutes and nearly caused a riot amongst the students who didn’t get hold of a copy (there is a rumour that they were later exchanging hands for considerable amounts of money!).

We were joined on the trip by brilliant author, Melvyn Burgess, who was talking to the older St Paul’s students (we even ended up going out for a meal with his Brazilian publisher – it was delicious!)

The students obviously enjoyed our visit – here are some of their comments:

You were the coolest writers that have ever come to St Pauls.”

You guys are awesome!”

Thank you for making us realise that reading is fun.”

Thank you for making this the Best Reading Week EVAHHHHHHHHHH!”

We think they liked us!

Big thanks to Miss Tean Smith for organising everything and looking after us so well! We hope to see you all again very soon!
