The Next Big Thing

‘Blog Chain’-

This is the next BIG thing apparently! We authors pass on our thoughts and news about what we’re up to. We’d not heard of it (except when people say to us ā€œdon’t forget to pull the blog chainā€) but it sounds interesting.

We were asked to get involved by Chris D’Lacey, author of the brilliant Last Dragon Chronicles (see his blog at http://zookiesnotepad.blogspot.co.uk)

So here’s what they’ve asked us to answer!

What is the title of your next book?

It’s a series of 4 books called Blood Crown Quest – it’s another iHero adventure, where you choose what happens next and hopefully you don’t get the wrong decision and die (not literally, you’d just have to start the adventure again!)

What is a one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Decide you own destiny!

Where did the idea for the book come from?

We’ve written twenty books in the iHero series and they are incredibly popular. This mini series is a fighting fantasy, dungeons and dragons adventure (to contrast with our last one which was a sci-fi one.)

What genre does your book fall under?

Adventure game book (if that is a genre)

What actors would you choose to play the part of your characters in a movie rendition?

It will never get made into a movie! (but maybe there could be an interactive movie style internet game site which would use it – in which case Steve S would be the hero and Steve B would be the Red Queen – only joking!)

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

We have an agent.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

The four books will have taken 6 months because we are travelling around visiting schools and festivals at the same time

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Doctor Who choose your own adventure books / Fighting Fantasy

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Our bank managers…

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

These are VERY popular books with kids who don’t like reading much. They are interactive, give a sense of ownership and make the reader want to know ā€œwhat happens next?ā€, which, to be honest, is what the heart of storytelling is all about…

OK – that’s your lot!

So now we tag our next authors who will continue blogging on the theme of THE NEXT BIG THING and pass them into your care!

The first is our friend and chum, the brilliant Jackie Morris – an illustrator and author of wonderful books…

Her blog is fab and you can see it at http://www.jackiemorris.co.uk/blog/

Her work is truly brilliant (Steve S even has a couple of her pictures adorning his bedroom and living room!). Enjoy!

The second is Kathryn White who writes for children of all ages. She is based in Somerset and has written over 25 books. She is also a regular performer in schools and festivals. She is also a friend and lives near Steve B (they ā€œdo lunchā€ together sometimes!)

Take a look at her blog at http://www.kathrynwhite.net

Thanks for taking the time to read about what we’re up to!
